Larijani briefs UAE president on Iran's nuclear case
United Arab Emirates-Iran, Politics, 5/2/2006

Iran's Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Larijani in a meeting with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed al-Nahayan today expounded on the latest developments in the country's nuclear issue within the framework of international laws.

Turning to Iran's full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) over the past three years, he said meanwhile, the Iranian officials volunteered to accept the Additional Protocol and even went beyond it.

"Over the past three years, Iran has facilitated the inspection of its nuclear facilities by the agency's inspectors to an extent that the number of inspections exceeded 2,000.

"Iran's entire nuclear activities are supervised by the agency.

Besides, all of its programs have been reported to the IAEA and confirmed by it," he added.

Larijani added that Iran has been complying with its commitments under NPT's Nuclear Disarmament Treaty and the country's full declared readiness for the IAEA continuous inspections under the broad-based nuclear Safeguard Agreement.

For his part, Al-Nahayan urged the need to promote stability, security as well as permanent peace in the region and called for détente in the Middle East, in particular the Persian Gulf area.

The meeting was also attended by UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdallah bin Zayed al-Nahayan and Iranian Ambassador to the UAE Mohammad-Ali Hadi.

"The current crises in the region proved that the regional countries need to coordinate and cooperate with one another more than ever.

The SNSC secretary is also scheduled to meet with Vice-President and Prime Minister Sheikh Muhammad bin Rashid al-Maktum. Larijani's visit is taking place within the context of recent consultations with regional states.
