Iran presses ahead as nuclear report is released
Iran-UN, Politics, 4/28/2006

The International Atomic Energy Agency submitted today a report on Iran's nuclear activity to the UN Security Council.

The agency had previously said that Iran has been compliant for the last several years, but nevertheless, made demands on Iran to halt its nuclear enrichment as a "confidence measure" as the agency sought to investigate unsupported allegations and suspicions seen to be politically promoted by nations, members of the organization and self- declared enemies of Iran, who fear that Iran owning scientific and technical development capabilities in the nuclear field. Just like a knife can be used to eat food, and can be used potentially as a weapon, so can nuclear technology, and the US and others do not want Iran to have such nuclear civil tools.

Today's IAEA report is in line with what the organization has done in the past of saying Iran is compliant, but the agency cannot be sure Iran is not doing something illegal that it may not be aware off. The report says Iran had failed to comply with Friday's UN Security Council deadline to end Uranium enrichment activities. Iran had said it would never stop enrichment as it is within its full rights to do so.

Meantime, a New York Times noted about the report saying "The report says that all nuclear material that Iran has acknowledged having is accounted for," however "gaps remain in the agency's knowledge with respect to the scope and content of Iran's centrifuge program."

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said today that Iran is willing to keep on moving within the framework of the International Atomic Energy Agency regulations, just as we have been doing so, thus far, Yet, if they would resort to playing tricks against us and taking advantage of these regulations that should naturally guarantee our rights, they had better know that the Iranian nation would alter its methods of dealing with these groups and agencies thoroughly."

The president reiterated "The Iranian nation considers it an absolute right to benefit from all technologies of the day, including the nuclear technology, for entirely peaceful purposes, and insists on materializing that right solidly."

He added, "Our nation is strong, and would pave its way to the highest peaks of pride and technology patiently and resolutely."

Ahmadinejad said, "If the global arrogance is ripping off its throat today it is because they intend to block the path of the Iranian nation's advancement and feels weak in its confrontation with the Iranians, since if they were truly strong they would not have been outing loud, issuing resolutions, and publishing communiques." He said, "The Iranian nation is highly civilized and has a very rich culture and is not after oppressing any other nation, or launching an aggressive attack against anyone."

Ahmadinejad said, "The opponents of Iran's advancement have assumed they can dishearten this brave and monotheist nation resorting to a massive psychological campaign, bullying, countless threats, issuance of communiqués, and gatherings .. The Iranian nation only yields to strong logic, favors the establishment of justice for the entire mankind, is not after oppressing any other nations, and never bows to bullying of any power."

Ahmadinejad said that the mankind's greatest problem today is having abandoned the Prophets' teachings, reiterating, "A few aggressive powers that have diverted drastically from the path laid by the Prophets and totally abandoned worshipping God, have resorted to launching military attacks and unlimited profiteering, depriving the entire mankind of peace and security."

The Iranian President added, "These powers have interfered in internal affairs of various nations around the globe and still keep on creating problems for the world nations, including their own nations."

He said "Iran is a nuclear country. This slogan that nuclear energy is our inalienable right is the outcry of the people and a national demand."
He addressed those who are against Iran's progress, saying, "If nuclear technology is bad, you should not use it...We believe it is good and all peoples should enjoy it."

He said "The Iranian youth and scientists will conquer peaks of science and technology in all fields step by step and will stand at the peak of international progress .. Certain powers fill their arsenals with chemical, biological and nuclear weapons but stand against national move of the Iranian people. These powers intend to monopolize nuclear technology and put the world's wealth and power in their own pockets therefore they can rule the world based on this technology. But they are mistaken on the Iranian nation."

With US indication that support for its policy at the UN Security Council is not yielding results for action against Iran, the US has indicated that it is hopping that countries in support of the US position would individual enact sanctions against Iran.

Head of Iran's Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani emphasized today "As we very often declared, the Islamic Republic of Iran is not after taking military advantage of its nuclear activities," addressing the Westerners, and particularly the Americans, and warned "Take extreme care and heed the aftermaths of any measure you would adopt."

Iran's president Ahmadinejad said today, "The enemies of our system intend to get concessions from the great Iranian nation resorting to political pressure and military threats, not knowing that this nation will never abandon its absolute right."

Ahmadinejad said the Iranian nation insists on benefiting from the advantages of the nuclear technology for entirely peaceful purposes, adding "taking peaceful advantage of nuclear power is the Iranian nation's demand and our great national ideal today" and saying Iran "would not retreat from that righteous demand the slightest bit."
