Iran's scientific progress belongs to all Muslims: Bashir
Sudan-Iran, Politics, 4/26/2006
Sudan's President Omar Hassan al-Bashir who is on a visit to Iran praised today the scientific progress achieved by Iran, and stressed it belongs to all Muslims.
Bashir, who arrived in the central city of Isfahan Wednesday noon heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation, made the remark during a meeting with Isfahan Governor-General Morteza Bakhtiari in the pavilion of Shahid Beheshti airport.
The Sudanese people were very happy with the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran and praise Iran's recent scientific progress, the president said.
Bakhtiari, for his part, said the Iranian nation praises the international political stances of Sudan.
"We believe Muslims can better settle problems through support for one another," he said.
At a press conference with Bashir, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad cautioned enemies of Islamic nations and their conspirators that the time would soon come when these nations would actively resist their conspiracies.
Al-Bashir, for his part, said the power of the Islamic Republic of Iran was a catalyst for international peace and security and that Sudan strongly believed this strength would never be used to violate the rights of others.
He further said that Iran's nuclear case clearly showed the political discord that plagues the international community, and asked why the enemies, who say their goal is to defend international peace, remain silent on the nuclear arsenal of Israel.
He said Iran and Sudan, as two independent-minded states, have a common enemy and are both being pressured to fall in line on the West's pretext that they are out to defend the world from terrorism and violations of human rights.
The Sudanese president noted that the issue of Darfur was raised by the United States in order to inflict damage to the Sudanese government, saying the US intended to damage Sudan's resources.
Pointing to the Western media's propaganda against Muslims in recent months, he said developments in Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan and the US and Israel's efforts to cause discord in Syria and Lebanon as well as Iran's nuclear issue were among instances of enemy moves intended to discredit Muslims.
Bashir expressed his felicitations to the Iranian government and people for their recent nuclear achievement, saying his country believes that the god almighty has been "helping Iran and no one can harm this country."
