Israel revokes Palestinian legislators residency
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 4/20/2006
The Israeli Broadcast Authority reported today that Israel revoked residency status of 3 Hamas Palestinian parliament members, because they are residence from East Jerusalem, and not citizens, and are acting against the interest of Israel.
Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said that their right to be elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council does not include their right to belong to a terrorist organization.
She said that the Israeli interior minister has the authority to revoke the status of a resident who betrays the state.
