Iraqi interim government reviews upcoming Iran-US talks

Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari said today that the Iraqi interim government in today's meeting reviewed the upcoming talks between Iran and US on Iraqi issue.

Speaking to reporters after the cabinet session, he said during the meeting the ministers studied the preliminary talks to be held between Iranian and American diplomatic delegations.

Iran and the US are to hold a meeting on Iraq's development in the presence of an Iraqi representative, he said.

The Iraqi president, prime minister along with other senior officials in recent days welcomed the upcoming dialogue between Iran and US over Iraq's development. The joint meeting is to be held in Baghdad.

Following a request made by the leader of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq and Head of Majority Faction at Iraq's Parliament Abdel Aziz Hakim, Iran agreed to hold talks with US on Iraq's developments.
