Saad Hariri meets Palestinian leader Ahmad Jibril
Lebanon-Palestine, Politics, 4/4/2006
The leader of the Lebanese majority block in parliament, Saad Hariri, who opposes Syrian influence in Lebanon, has met with pro-Syrian Ahmed Jebril, head of the hardline Palestinian movement, the Popular Front For The Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC), a statement from Hariri's office said Saturday, according to the Deutche press agency DPA
Sources close to Hariri said the meeting focused on the future of the PFLP-GC bases located in the Bekaa valley in eastern Lebanon and in Naameh, 15 kilometres south of Beirut. Lebanon is under international pressure to disarm Palestinians in refugee camps in Lebanon. Some Lebanese favor this option as well.
