Al-Jazeera TV: Washington discusses aid to Palestinians
Palestine-USA, Politics, 4/4/2006
The US representative to the UN, John Bolton, said that his country will not prevent humanitarian aid from the Palestinian people but needs a proper framework for doing so.
In an exclusive interview with al-Jazeera TV on Sunday, Bolton called on the Islamic resistance movement (Hamas) to give up what he called terrorism in order to achieve peace.
This was expressed while the Palestinian prime minister Ismael Henya has criticized the American position in not making any contact with his government. Henya also called on any Israeli coming government to take what he described as "brave decisions" to recognize the rights of the Palestinians so as the region would enjoy security and stability.
Henya said while receiving several supporters of the movement that Hamas had won in democratic elections according to international and democratic standards advocated by the USA.
Meantime, the Palestinian minister of interior Saeed Seyam renewed his rejection to maintain security arrangements with the Israeli side, noting that this is "nationally rejected."
Seyam said in a meeting with journalists in Gaza that "security coordination with Israel is rejected nationally and the case is not a matter of changing people in the ministry," noting that "this coordination used to be made at a political decision and Hamas is against this coordination which intended to exchange information or political detentions built on these information."
