Arab summit rejects US sanctions on Syria
Syria-Regional-USA, Politics, 3/30/2006

The 18th Arab Summit issued on Wednesday underlined rejection of unilateral US sanctions on Syria and assert Syria's right to restore the occupied Golan

The summit decided to reject the so called Syria Accountability Act and considered it as a breaching of the international law and the UN decisions as well as the Arab League Charter since it allows US laws to prevail on international law, the decision said renewing full solidarity with the Syrian Arab Republic and expressing appreciation of her role that calls to dominate the language of dialogue and diplomacy as a means of understanding among states and it calls the US administration to join with good intentions in a constructive dialogue with Syria as a way to find the best means to settle issues hindering ties improvement between the two countries.

The summit called upon the United States to reconsider this act which constitutes a flagrant bias to Israel as to avert situations exacerbating and wasting of opportunities to achieve just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East warning that it poses as a dangerous damage to the Arab interests and noting that the summit has asked the Arab League secretary general to follow up implementation of this decision and reporting about it to the council in its upcoming session.

Over the occupied Arab Syrian Golan, the summit decided to confirm the Arab states' firm support and backing to Syria's right and just demand to restore full Golan until June 4th border line in 1967 which is based on the peace process and the international resolutions by building on what has been accomplished in Madrid in 1991 and renewing refusal to all procedures taken by the Israeli authorities of occupation that aimed at changing the legal, natural and demographic situation of the occupied Syrian Golan as well as considering the Israeli measures aimed at dedicating its control on the Golan as illegal, null and void and posing a violation of international accords, the UN charter and the international resolutions.

The summit condemned practices and provocations made by the Israeli forces of occupation against the villagers of the Syrian Ghajer village in with the aim of dividing it and displacing its inhabitants by building a wall separating them from their lands and livelihood considering Israel's obligation of the villagers to move into the southern sector of it as a breach of the international law, mainly Geneva 4th accord, and a crime against humanity according to International Court of Justice.

The summit-renewed assertions on the Arab stand by full solidarity with Syria and Lebanon and standing by them in facing the continuous Israeli attacks and threats considering any attack on them as an attack on the Arab nation.
