The Khartoum Arab Summit declaration

The conclusion of the 18th Arab summit in Khartoum, Sudan, was marked by the Khartoum declaration which has mainly concentrated on stressing the Arab peace initiative and commended the transparent democratic elections in Palestine and the call to honor the choices of the Palestinian people and backing the attempts of the Palestinian people to preserve Palestinian unity.
The declaration also stressed honoring Iraq's sovereignty and the need on forming an Iraqi government and deploring those targeting the holy sites in it.
The declaration called for maintaining solidarity with Lebanon and its sovereignty and right to resistance, and called for completing the investigation tino the murder of the former Iraqi prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri.
It called for total solidarity with Syria against sanctions imposed on it.
On the Sudanese issue, the declaration called on the Sudanese sides taking part in the peace talks over Darfur to double efforts in order to reach an agreement in the district in the context of the African Union.
The declaration also condemned defaming Prophet Muhammad and condemned any violation of religions calling on the UN to enact legislation that ban violation of religious sites.
