Special Iraqi forces carried out al-Huseineyah operation

In another military development in Iraq, the American army said that its forces are not responsible for breaking into Huseneyat al-Mustafa in Baghdad which resulted in killing 17 Shiite, stressing that the special Iraqi forces led this operation.
In a statement, the Iraqi army said that the special Iraqi forces on Sunday at sunset in al-Azameyah area, northeast of Baghdad, launched an operation chasing "a terrorist cell."
The statement added that special American forces were at the site as a consultancy side, denying entering the mosque or inflecting damages on it during the operation.
The statement added that elements from the first contingent of the special operations in the Iraqi army were exposed to fire upon its arrival and this resulted in clashed resulted in killing 16 gunmen.
The statement indicated that the Iraqi forces detained 15 persons and discovered the place of one kidnapped and a shelter for manufacturing explosives.
However, Shiite politicians said that the men were killed in clashes between the American forces and the al-Mahdi army which belongs to the Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sader and this resulted in killing 20 gunmen.
The minister of transport who is close to the Sadri trend, Salam al-Maliki, said that the attack was another "dirty" invasion by the American forces. It is part of the escalation which aims at getting al-Sadr group involved in another battle or obstructing the political operation.
