40 Iraqis killed in attack on Iraqi- American base

The Iraqi police said that 40 persons were killed at least in an explosion for a joint Iraqi-American base near Tel Afer, north Iraq.
The sources explained that the explosion targeted volunteers for the Iraqi army and the attack might be carried out by a suicide bomber carrying explosives. It is not known whether there are killings in the lines of the American army.
Three Iraqis were killed and other five injured in various acts of violence in Baghdad on Monday.
A source asked to be anonymous said that two persons were killed and other three injured in an explosion inside a bus carrying passengers in Palestine Street. The source added that one person was killed and another injured in Zayounah area, east of Baghdad.
In a statement, the American army announced the death of one American soldier in al-Anbar governorate west of Iraq after he had a heart attack last Saturday. The statement said that the death has no connection to a military operation.
