Arab foreign ministers resume meeting in Khartoum

The Arab foreign ministers resumed their meetings in preparation for the 18th Conference of the Arab Summit in Khartoum on Sunday.
Cuban Minister of Foreign Relations Felipe Perz Roque delivered a speech on which he stressed his country's support and solidarity with the Arab legitimate issues in liberating their occupied territories and achieving the just and comprehensive peace.
Roque criticized the economic and political system which the greater powers are trying to impose on the world, describing it as a "flagrant interference in the states' internal affairs and a violation of the international laws and the UN charters."
He called for formation of a world front to defend the peoples rights to self-determination, independence and sovereignty.
For his part, Representative of China and the Envoy Commissioner to he Arab League Worssi Ki stressed the Arab-Chinese deep-rooted relations of friendship, asserting China's desire to strengthen these relations in a way that contributes in achieving development in the Arab states.
UN Secretary General Private Representative in Iraq Ashraf Qaddi expressed the UN appreciation over the aid that the AL is extending to maintain Iraq's stability and territorial integrity.
Meanwhile, Cyprus Foreign Minister George Iacovou expressed his country's desire to develop its relations with the Arab states.
Later, the Arab Foreign Ministers held a closed-door session to discuss issues on the agenda of the summit.
Later, the Ministers endorsed a draft resolution that stresses the Arab states' firm support to Syria's right to restoring the occupied Syrian Golan to the June 4th line 1967.
The draft resolution also asserted that all the measures taken by the Israeli authorities to change the legal, natural and demographical situation in the occupied Golan are considered illegal and constitute a violation of the international agreements and the UN charter and international legitimacy resolutions.
"The continued Israeli occupation of the Syrian Golan poses a threat to the peace and security in the region and the world as whole," the draft said.
The ministers also endorsed a draft resolution on supporting peace, development and unity in Sudan and making the Middle East a zone free of weapons of mass destruction, particularly nuclear weapons.
Other draft resolutions on the Arab-African, Arab-European, Arab-Chinese cooperation, as well as cooperation with the two Americas were approved by the Arab Foreign Ministers.
