Tunisia tightens security in precaution of attacking British interests

The Tunisian government tightened security measures in precaution of attacking British interests after receiving news of threats to blow up the British cultural center in the capital.

One British source asked to be anonymous said on Thursday that the administration of the British cultural center in Tunisia received a telephone call from a person recommending to evacuate the center before is going to be blow up.

The threats, which the administration of the British council received, raised fears among hundreds of Tunisian and foreign students who study English at the British council.

The Tunisian police forces intensified presence in front of the building of the center and the adjoining buildings and cordoned them with scores of soldiers and closely tightened the passage of road leading to it in precaution of the possibility of it attacked by a booby trapped car.

The Tunisian security forces subjected all students in the center to inspection measures before entering the hall of the council.

Tunisia maintains good political and economic relations with Britain.
