Hamas vows continued resistance
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 3/24/2006
The minister of interior in the new Palestinian government Saeed Seyam said he will not order the detention of any Palestinian carrying out an attack against Israel.
Seyam said that "there will be no day when a Palestinian is detained over political affiliation or because of resisting the occupation."
Seyam demanded the closure of what he called the file of political detention, stressing that the movement will hold talks with resistance groups on the mechanism, ways and timing for the attacks in a way "not to leave the matter unorganized and thereby the results will not be in the interests of our people."
Seyam added that keeping peace and order will be his most priority and stressed that his ministry will continue coordination with the Israeli occupation forces over daily security issues including the number of licenses given to Palestinian workers. But he said he will not himself meet with Israelis.
Meantime, thousands of Palestinians on Thursday eulogized the two members of Saraya al-Quds (al-Quds groups) the military wing of the Islamic Jihad, Mahmoud Salah Ayyad, and Fares Sufian Abu Ghazaleh who were murdered in an Israeli raid north of Gaza.
