US urges for a unity government in Iraq
Iraq-USA, Politics, 3/23/2006
Concerning political development in Iraq, US President George W. Bush urged the Iraqis to maintain understanding in order to form the new Iraqi government after three months of the legislative elections.
In a speech he delivered on Wednesday Bush said that he had stressed in talks with the American ambassador in Iraq Zalmay Khalilzad and the commander of the coalition forces in Iraq Gen. George Casey "the need to say clearly to the Iraqis that it is time to form the government."
This is, however, the first time in which Bush urged the Iraqi sides this way to from the government. However, a US Senate delegation notified the prime minister whose term of office expired Ibrahim al-Jaafari on Wednesday following long and frank talks that the patient of the Americans is starting to expire over the postponement of setting up a national unity government in the country.
However, several members of the Iraqi parliament had said that the political blocs will continue next Saturday meetings over the formation of the new government, noting that during the parliament's session an agreement will be made on its presidency commission.
