Syria and Egypt discuss increasing trade

Syria's Minister of Economic and Trade Amer Hosni Lotfi discussed with Head of Egyptian Exhibitions and International Markets Board Mohammed al-Sa'ed Saleh Tuesday ways of rising trade exchange between Syria and Egypt.
"The minister discussed how to increase Syrian product in the Egyptian markets and ways of opening the door for Syrian and Egyptian private sector to reach into each sides' markets, a source at the Economic Ministry told SANA.
Lotfi visited the Syrian pavilion at Cairo's International Fair where he was acquainted with the Syrian various products exhibited in the fair.
The minister also toured the Egyptian pavilions and listened to a detailed explanation about the progress that the Egyptian industry has reached to recently.
Earlier, the ministry of economy and trade inked with Egypt's ministry of foreign trade and industry on Tuesday a memo of understanding for cooperation in field of World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements and to provide technical expertise related to the organization subjects.
Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Hosni Lutfi and his Egyptian counterpart Rashid Mohammed Rashid inked the memo at the end of the first session of Syrian-Egyptian joint trade committee.
The two sides also signed a minute of the trade committee meetings that included means of enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade fields and economic institutions in the both states.
The minute called to formulate a joint committee concerned with finding ways of developing joint trade ties in the future in addition to trying to surmount any obstacles that prevent commodities from reaching into each state's markets.
Meanwhile, Minister Lutfi talked with Egypts Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Sameh Fahmi about aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two states in field of oil and natural gas as well as means of developing cooperation in framework of signed accords on bilateral issues and as part of the Arab natural gas line project.
