Fatah partial boycott of parliament
Palestine, Politics, 3/21/2006
The Fatah parliamentarians today held a partial boycott of the parliament session "till it terminates debate on a provision that calls to cancel resolutions of the former PLC last session on January 13," Wafa reported.
Wafa added "Member of PLC, Abdul Hamid al- Eila, said that Fateh members will not attend the session in a protest against the current council ignoring of the Palestinian High Court recommendation not to discuss the above mentioned provision."
It is not clear how the Palestinian High Court can recommend the parliament not to discuss an particular subject.
Worth noting after the last parliament was defeated, the parliament passed laws granting the president extra power to place high court judges without parliament's approval. A recent survey found that Fatah lost the election in part because it is seen as corrupt.
