Security tension continues in the Palestinian territories
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 3/21/2006

Six Palestinians were injured in clashes between the Palestinian security forces and gunmen from al-Aqsa martyrs groups of the Fatah movement in several areas north of Gaza.

The confrontations erupted after gunmen from al-Aqsa groups opened fire at a procession for the police director at Beit Hanoun (Erez crossing) north of the sector. The clashes extended to the area of the two ministries of finance and foreign affairs in Gaza when a group from Fatah tried to break into the two ministries.

A heavy fire was heard in the surrounding of the headquarters of the main police center in Gaza. No details were reported on the reasons behind the fire.

In another development, one young Palestinian was killed by gunmen in the north of the West Bank suspected to be collaborating with Israel. No side claimed responsibility for this act which comes in the course of a call from the Palestinian movements to liquidate "hirelings" considering that "without the information they give to Israel, Israel would not be able to assassinate active Palestinians."
