Israeli asks Palestinian president to reject Hamas government
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 3/21/2006
The Israeli defense minister Shaoul Mofaz asked the chairman of the Palestinian Authority to reject the formation of the Hamas government.
The Israeli daily Yadhout Ahronot quoted the minister as saying that Hamas will transfer the Palestinian authority to what it called a terrorist authority.
Moreover, Tel Aviv announced boycotting of this government and not to contact it. One official source stressed that Israel will continue to freeze the transfer of the Palestinian owned customs taxes collected by Israel on their behalf.
In the course of continued successive pressures, the Israeli occupation authorities once again closed al-Mintar crossing (Carni) which separates between Gaza and Israel after opening it for less than one hour to permit the passage of basic commodities for the sector.
