Conditions of Syrian prisoners in Israeli jails discussed
Syria-Israel, Politics, 3/20/2006
The Committee for the Support of Syrian Prisoners in Israeli Jails on Sunday discussed the poor condition of 17 Syrian citizens of the Golan who are detained in Israeli prisons because of their insistence to the occupation and commitment to the motherland Syria.
Head of the Committee Abdul karim Omar said in a meeting attended by Ibrahim al-Ali, Secretary of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party Branch in Quneitra, that the circles concerned in Syria have presented material aid to the families of the Syrian prisoners to boost their steadfastness in the face of Israeli occupation.
The Committee decided to hold a special ceremony on April 19 to highlight the national stances of the Syria prisoners in Israeli jails. It will also stage a sit-in outside the International Red Cross Bureau in Damascus to appeal to the world opinion and international agencies and spot lights on the dilemma of the Syrian prisoners in Israeli jails.
Some Syrian prisoners have been detained in Israeli jails for almost twenty years.
