100,000 march in London against Blair's war
Iraq-UK, Politics, 3/20/2006

"Well over 100,000 anti-war protesters from across Britain marched in London Saturday against three years of occupation in Iraq and the threats of a military attack on Iran," the Socialist Worker (www.socialistworker.co.uk) reported.

The report said the demonstration, organized by the Stop the War Coalition and "Blair wants us to forget about the war, but I haven't forgotten," said Abdul Khan, a young man from Walsall who travelled to London for the march with some 100 protesters from the town.

Socialist Worker reported "They're now targeting Iran and Syria. They want to go on and on. Blair is guilty, though he won't admit it. The mood of anger against Blair was expressed in the response to speakers at the rally in Trafalgar Square that followed the march. A journalist asked me why this demonstration seemed to have a spring in its step," said George Galloway, Respect MP for Bethnal Green & Bow. I told him it's because people across this country can sense that justice is coming for the war criminal Tony Blair."

Galloway urged "We need British troops out of Iraq and Tony Blair out of Downing Street," he said.

Meantime, thousands of people participated in a big rally in central Brussels Sunday afternoon calling for the end of the US occupation of Iraq and Israeli occupation of Palestine. "US forces out of Iraq.", "Bush is terrorist number one," "Free Palestine," shouted the marchers who included people form all walks of life.

"Stop United States of Aggression," "No war for oil," read some of the placards carried by the protestors.

The Brussels demonstration was part of worldwide protests against the US occupation of Iraq in which millions of people took to the streets on Saturday and Sunday on the third anniversary of the occupation of Iraq. Demonstrations were held in over 200 cities around the world, including New York, London, Jakarta, Sao Paulo and Brussels.

"US preaches expansion of freedom and democracy but practices expansion of war and occupation," read one placard carried by marchers in the Belgian capital.
