Samara military operation continues in Iraq

Joint Iraqi and American forces continued the military operations in Samara and its suburbs for the second running day amid expectations that this operation continued for other several days.

The American forces say that the new operation which bears the name "the invader" target chasing the gunmen of al-Qaida organization in an area said to provide shelter for 300 foreign and Iraqi armed men.

American officers and Iraqi security sources announced that the operation resulted in the first day in detaining 31 persons including persons suspected to be members in al-Qaida organization.

One American military spokesman said that forces taking part in the operation found 6 shelters containing weapons as well as medicines and documents belonging to the gunmen.

A statement by the American army said that more than 50 warplanes and 1400 American and Iraqi soldiers in addition to 200 military vehicles are taking part in the operation.
