Russia pledges support to Syria despite pressures

Russia's National Security Council Chief pledged on Thursday the nonstop boosting to Syria despite all pressures put on her.
Igor Ivanov said when meeting Minister of Trade and Economy Amer Hosni Lutfi, the Russian side will continue supporting Syria and implementing agreements and commitments with her regardless of all pressures put on her and the region. He praised at the same time the high level of understanding and coordination of steps between the two sides in the international arena.
Ivanov said all capabilities are available to catalyze and encourage cooperation between Syria and Russia on all levels underlining that the Russian side is interested that the just and comprehensive peace in Middle East will prevail on basis of the international resolutions ruling out to impose it by force.
He emphasized Russia's interest to develop ties with Syria pointing the importance of delegations exchange between the two countries and putting into force all agreements that have been reached to between the two Presidents Bashar al-Assad and Valdimir Putin.
He noted the visit of the foreign minister to Moscow in which he conveyed President Putin a message from President al-Assad underlines development of ties between the two countries in a dynamic way.
For his part, Lutfi expressed appreciation of Syria as a government and people for the policy Russia is following towards the Mideast issues saying the principled policy Russia is pursuing gives her a push to assume a main role in establishing peace in the region and to bring security and stability into it on the basis of dialogue and the international resolutions she is adhered to.
Lutfi and Ivanov reviewed activities in framework of the Syrian-Russian joint ministerial committee for economic, trade, scientific and technical cooperation that is holding its fourth session in Moscow, which spotlighted an increase in the Syrian-Russian investment volume and a growth in trade exchange.
Lutfi expressed the Syrian side readiness to host the meeting of the Arab-Russian businessmen council in Damascus next year.
