Iraq, Politics, 3/17/2006

The prime minister whose term of office expired Ibrahim al-Jaafari told journalists after a session for the parliament that he is ready to withdraw his nomination for the post for the second term of office if the people ask him to do so.

Jaafari also stressed that the announcement to make the new government will be within one month, at most.

Earlier, the Interim President whose term of office expired Jalal al-Talibani expected the new government to be announced by the end of the current month.

The convening of the first session of Iraq's parliament coincides with the approaching third anniversary of the invasion of Iraq which was led by the USA against the country on March 20, 2003. N.
