Saddam's brother claims coercion to testify against Saddam
Iraq, Politics, 3/16/2006

Saddam's Hussein brother, Barazan al-Takriti, denied in his testimony accusations, addressed to him in the al-Dajil court case trial, which includes supervising the detention of the suspected men and leveling fields and farms of the people of the village and torturing the detainees.

Takriti considered that accusations addressed to him are fabricated because he refused to give a testimony against Saddam or to play a role in the arrangements of ruling Iraq after the invasion.

Takriti said he went to al-Dajil after the assassination attempt because of his post, then as a director for the intelligence. He said he blamed the officials for the preventive detention campaign for several suspects and gave his orders to release 80 of them.

Takriti also confirmed that documents given to the court and bearing signatures are false. He said that President Saddam did not delegate him to go to al-Dajil nor gave him certain directives over the issue. He strongly denied he had supervised by investigations to this case noting that this was under the control of the general security department.
