Lebanese consensus on Damascus, dismantling Palestinian weapons
Lebanon-Syria, Politics, 3/15/2006
Meeting of the Lebanese inter-national dialogue sides were concluded in Lebanon on Tuesday by an agreement to dismantle the Palestinian weapons inside and outside the Palestinian camps, the establishment of full diplomatic relations with Syria, and to discuss the suspended issues on March 22.
The speaker of the Lebanese parliament Nabih Berri said in conclusion of Tuesday's session that the 14 Lebanese political leaders agreed "unanimously" to solve the issue of the Palestinian weapon outside the camps within 6 months and then inside the camps."
They also agreed that the "identity of the under conflict Shabaa Farms area in the border triangle between Israel, Syria and Lebanon" is Lebanese territory.
Worthy mentioning that the agreement to dismantle the weapons inside the Palestinian camps was announced for the first time, with the knowledge that dismantling weapons outside the camps was agreed upon since the first sessions of the dialogue.
Also agreed upon from the beginning is the formation of an international investigation committee on the murder of Hariri and the expansion of its authorities to cover other assassination cases.
