Iraq, Military, 3/15/2006

The number of bodies found by the Iraqi police increased in parts of Iraq to 80 persons since Monday morning. The Iraqi ministry of interior announced the discovery of 27 bodies killed by bullets and hand tightened in Kamaleyah and Fadeleyah areas east of Baghdad.

On Monday evening the police found scores of bodies in the Sunni and Shiite quarters of which 13 were in al-Sader city which witnessed last Sunday a series of explosions and attacks in which 58 were killed and other 200 injured.

The discovery of these bodies raises fears that the acts of killings are linked to new escalation of sectarian violence following al-Sader attacks.

The divan of the Sunni Waqf denounced that the tomb of Imam Abu Hanifah al-Mu'man in Baghdad was bombarded by mortars shelling on Monday evening.

Iraqi sources announced that a school guard in Baghdad arrested one Yemeni wearing an explosive belt.

One Iraqi was killed and other 8 injured when a bomb went off on the main road between Baghdad and Baqouba.

The Iraqi police said that gunmen assassinated the chief editor of the "Alef Ba'" magazine Mohsin Khudeir near his house in Baghdad to be the third Iraqi journalist to be killed in one week.

Meantime, the Iraqi minister of interior Bayan Jaber Soulagh announced the imposition of curfew on cars in Baghdad during the convening of the Iraqi parliament and the celebration of Imam al-Hussein anniversary.

On the other hand, the deputy governor of Salah eddin Abdullah Jebra said that the police detained one American described to be a security contractor having with him weapons and explosives in his car in Tikrit city north of Iraq.
