Algeria, Local, 3/14/2006
The Algerian authorities released Abdul Haq al-Ayeydah, one of the leaders of the banned armed Islamic group after he had spent 13 years in prison. This step came in the framework of the national reconciliation series launched by the Algerian presidency.
Al-Ayehdeh was released on Sunday in the context of the peace and reconciliation document proposed by the Algerian President Abdul Aziz Butaflika and adopted by the Algerians in a referendum in September.
