Libya, Economics, 3/13/2006
The Libyan news agency JANA reported yesterday that "Sunday 12th of March coincides with the 30th anniversary where the Leader of the Revolution has removed the last shanty in the city of Tripoli ending once and for all the humiliating life of the Libyan people during the toppled oppressive regime."
The report said "On this same day in March of 1976 the Leader of the Revolution drove himself a bulldozer and wiped out the last shanty at Abi Salim in Tripoli."
"Thousands of Libyans during the toppled regime were living in such shanty places in different parts of Libya and they were suffering the worst under that regime that linked the destiny of this country with the colonial imperialist circles that were plundering the wealth of this country."
"At that miserable time there were about 90000 shanties used as homes for Libyan families the real owners of this land and its wealth With the outbreak of al-Fatah Revolution and within few years the Revolution with revolutionary will was able to build hundreds of thousands of new and modern homes for Libyans."
