Arab lawyers chief describes Saddam's trial as poor

Commenting on the events of the trial session of Saddam Hussein and his aides, the chairman of the Arab bar association Ziad al-Khasawenah said that all testimonies taken in the court are considered false because lawyers were did not take part in the work of the preliminary investigations, told al-Jazeera satellite TV
The events of the trial took place in the presence of the defense lawyers of the five accused persons "Khalil al-Duleimi who presides over the team, Former US Attorney General Ramsey Clark; the Qatari minister of justice Najib al-Nueimi, the chairman of the Jordanian lawyers Union Saleh al-Armouti and the Jordanian lawyer Issam al-Ghazzawi.
In a press conference in Amman, Clark warned that of death penalty that might be issued against his client will bring the country into a sectarian bloody war and divide it for ever.
The last trial session for Saddam and his aides was held on February 29, in which the former Iraqi president admitted he had ordered leveling the farms of persons convicted in his assassination trial in al-Dajil town in 1982, noting that he himself signed this decision.
During the trial, Saddam asked for releasing the other accused men in this case " if the main person pleases you by saying he is responsible, why then you go to those ( his aides) and seize them," he added " there is only one President to try him and leave the others."
