Inter- Lebanese dialogue resumes today
Lebanon, Politics, 3/13/2006
The Lebanese political leaders today resume their national dialogue in order to end the political crisis over two main issues: dismantling the weapons of Hizbullah and removal of the Lebanese president Emil Lahoud.
This meeting which is considered the largest gathering since the end of the civil war in Lebanon comes after a several days postponement following differences said to be related to statements made by the leader of the Socialist Progressive Party, Walid Junblat, while on his to Washington.
A political source close to the dialogue said that the conference may issue decisions on some subjects, including the Palestinian weapons issue, and the identity of the Shabaa Farms, but there are difficulties in having an agreement on the two main issues.
The issue of removing the Lebanese president Emil Lahoud is also among the difficult debated issues as pressures are increasing by Syria's opponents to push him to resign.
