No Arab initiative for Lebanon so far
Lebanon-Regional, Politics, 3/7/2006
Speaker of the Lebanese parliament Nabih Berri welcomed any Arab initiative towards Lebanon resolve problems with Syria, but under the condition to take into account the components of the inter- Lebanese dialogue.
The same position was taken by the Foreign minister Fawzi Salloukh who welcomed any Arab initiative but only "in case the inter-Lebanese dialogue fails."
After five days of inter-Lebanese dialogue, only one main point was approved by the Lebanese participants which is the founding of an international court for trying those who are involved in the assassination of the former Lebanese prime minister Rafik al-Hariri and expanding the authorities of the investigation to include other acts of assassinations.
