Lebanese national resistance moves to a new phase amid positive atmospheres

The speaker of the Lebanese parliament Nabih Berri said that the national dialogue conference will start today adopting the agenda of its items one by one after the end of in-depth discussions during the three past days.

In a press conference held on Saturday evening after the end of two rounds of dialogue, Berri denied the existence of deals towards any of the topics debated on the participants, everyone is looking at issues from the aspect of national interest.

He also welcomed any Arab initiative towards Lebanon but he indicated that such initiative have to take into consideration the components of the inter- Lebanese dialogue. He explained that the "train of dialogue proceeds on its way to a Lebanese station called the 'real national unity'."

The speaker of the Lebanese parliament indicated the closeness in views of the leaders of parties and political gatherings taking part in the dialogue, expressing his hope in success especially after the positive atmospheres which prevailed during the past days.

For his part, the chairman of al-Mustaqbal and majority parliamentary bloc Saad al-Hariri said that positive attitudes increase day by day and that dialogue is proceeding forward more and more, noting the increase of rapprochement among participants in the dialogue.

The chairman of the Free National Trend Michel Aoun expressed optimism over the process of dialogue, while the chairman of the Lebanese Forces party Samir Jaajaa said that the discussions will be long.

Saturday's discussions on the second item of the agenda which is the UN Security Council resolution 1559 which calls for free presidential elections according on the bases of the Lebanese constitution without foreign intervention. The resolution also called for desolving all Lebanese and non- Lebanese militias and dismantling its weapons in reference to the weapons of Hizbullah and the Palestinian groups in Lebanon.
