Spain pledges to boost Syria's reform process

Spain expressed on Friday full support to Syria saying she will do all she can to build the permanent and strong bridge between Damascus and Madrid in all fields.
Spanish Prime Minister Jose Louis Rodriguez Zapatro remarks came when received Minister of Information Mohsen Bilal to convey him greetings of President Bashar al-Assad.
The meeting was held in presence of Spains Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos and the political advisor of the Spanish foreign and international policy.
Zapatero underlined his governments bolstering to the Mideast peace process as well Spain's backing to Syria on the level of the EU and Euro-Med Partnership bilaterally and internationally, pointing out that Spain is standing by Syria for peace, security and stability as civilizations coalition.
"We appreciate Syria's significant role on the Arabic and Islamic levels and we are confident of Syria's important role under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad in the region as well we do trust the continuity of the reform and construction process in Syria..Spain is ready to extend all aid and expertise in all fields to boost Syria in the reform process," Spain's premier said.
Zapatero noted his country's bolstering and high level participation at Aleppo festivities of becoming the capital of the Islamic Civilization in 2006 as well the joint inauguration of joint Spanish- Syrian projects that would constitute the beginning of cooperation between two countries on all levels.
On the other hand, Chairman of the ruling Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE) Manuel Chaves, the president of Spain's Andalusia regional government emphasized Spain's participation in opening festival of Aleppo as capital of Islamic culture.
During a phone call with Bilal Cahves reminded of President Bashar al-Assad's visit to Spain in May 2001 and his participation in inauguration the exhibition the "Shinning of the Umayyads in Cordoba."
Earlier, Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos held a reception honoring Bilal with the attendance of all Arab, Europeans and Latin Americans ambassadors accredited in Madrid.
