Jordanian Muslim Brothers elect Fallahat as leader
Jordan, Politics, 3/4/2006

The Muslim Brothers group in Jordan elected a new observer general (leader) who is Salam al-Fallahat seen as part of the center trend which dominates the group since several years.

The group's Shoura council voted Fallahat as a successor for the former general observer Abul Majuid al-Zuneibat who announced one week earlier he does not have the intention to nominate himself for a fourth term of office with the existence of a strong trend inside the group that rejects his nomination.

Jamil Abu Baker, also from al-Wasat (center) trend, won the post of the observer general.

The 50 members of the Shoura council also elected the five members of the executive bureau of the group. They are Ahmad al-Kafawin, Abdul Hamid al-Qudat, Saud Abu Mahfouz, Nael al-Masalaha and Khaled Hasanin. All these men are accounted for the al-Wasat trend or what is known as the "doves."

The group has 17 representatives at the 110 parliament members in Jordan.
