Syrian-Jordanian technical committee on agriculture starts meetings

Syria and Jordan discussed on Wednesday cooperation in field of fighting animal disease in addition to obstacles facing agrarian exports in both sides.
The Syrian-Jordanian technical committee for agriculture headed by the two ministers of agriculture in both states also talked about taxes and agrarian quarantine as well veterinary quarantine stressing the need to surmount obstacles in this respect.
Minister of Agriculture Adel Safar underlined at the beginning of the meeting the two countries search for agrarian integration to achieve food security and to pose as an example to be followed for cooperation between the two Arab states, hoping that the technical committee would work according to the one-team formula.
"We emphasize the two states desire to develop and boost cooperation as to serve agriculture and agrarian production" in both states, the minister said.
For his part, the Jordanian Minister of Agriculture Akef al-Fayez spoke about the importance of maintaining the big Arab free trade zone, which would impose new challenges and opportunities before the Arab cooperation.
The Arab free trade zone constitutes the security valve to meet upcoming challenges while implementation of the cooperation agreements poses as a genuine translation of the two states leaderships willingness and desire, al-Fayez said.
