Development in Syria is not restricted to one Domain

Syria's minister of economy and trade Amer Lutfi Hosni said Wednesday that the concept of development in Syria is not restricted to one domain, but it is a national plan that tackles all issues.

The minister, speaking at a celebration in Aleppo to mark the 35th anniversary of Arab Cooperation Day, underlined the importance of adopting the policy of self-sufficiency, using energies, human capabilities, financial and material available resources to promote the cooperative sector.

Meantime, The latest report issued by the 76th session of the Socio-Economic Council on Investment in the Arab states for the year 2004 highlighted Syria's position on the Arab investment map.

The report said that Syria is attractive to investment and this comes in concord with the legislative and legal attempts to kicking off the pace of administrative and government wheel in front of the influx of capitals and investments of different nationalities.

The report pointed out that Syria comes in the sixth place with an overall accumulative investments, foreign or licensed, totaled 1.6 billion dollars and its share of the influx of Arab investment is 6 percent.

With regard to human development in Syria, the report said ranked Syria 12th among the Arab sates for having a medium level of human development.

With regard to poverty as far as water is concerned, Syria ranked 6th among the Arab states that are above the water poverty line.
