Sorour: foreign sides aim to control and plunder Sudan
Egypt-Sudan, Politics, 2/28/2006
Egypt's parliament speaker Ahmed Fathi Sorour said yesterday that foreign sides are seeking to control Sudan in order to plunder its resources and will internationalize the Darfur issue as pretext to inject their forces into Sudan.
He said Sudanese unity is being harmed by efforts to replace African Union forces, by UN forces. The African Forces are in need of financing, and it is not clear if there are proposals to have the money and resources that would have to be spent on UN forces would instead be directed to the regional African Union forces.
