Egypt, Qatar agree on aid to Palestinians
Qatar-Egypt, Politics, 2/28/2006

The ruler of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khaleifa al-Thani and the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak agreed in conclusion of their talks in Doha on the need of continued aid to the new Palestinian government led by the Islamic resistance movement, Hamas.

Sheikh Hamad stressed the need of continued support for Hamas in its next work phase because it had ascended to power in a legitimate way.

He added "We hold the same position like Egypt and consider that Hamas came to power through elections and this might be the most transparent elections in the Arab world and therefore we have to support Hamas in this phase." He indicated continued Qatari aid for the Palestinians.

For his part, President Mubarak stressed that he notified all international sides on the need to continue supporting the Palestinian people, rather than their leaders saying that "the support given for the Palestinian citizen, which if he does not find living means, might be converted into a terrorist."
