Tawafuk Front seeks participation in Iraqi government
Iraq, Politics, 2/28/2006
The chairman of the Iraqi Sunni al-Tawafuk Front said that his bloc, which includes 44 representatives for the Iraqi Islamic Party and the National Dialogue Council and the People Of Iraq Conference are determined to take part in the next Iraqi government.
Duleimi considered that Iraq will not see calm unless the Front will take part in the next government, saying that al-Tawafuk Front had not suspended its participation in the government but only suspended the negotiations with the Shiite United Iraqi Coalition List.
For his part, the spokesman for al-Tawafuk front Zafer al-Ani said that the negotiations are still pending because the decisions announced by the prime minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari have not yet manifested on the ground.
On Saturday evening Jaafari announced in conclusion of a meeting which was attended by all large parties in the country that the political class as a whole expressed desire to accelerate the political process, protect the holy sites, and open an investigation on recent incidents.
