About 120 million euros in aid to Palestinians

The European Union has decided the release of main aid for the Palestinian authority estimated at 120 million euros in order to avoid a nearby financial crisis, coincided with the assignment of Hamas movement to form the next government.

The commissioner of external relations at the EU said that an announcement will be made on a main aid agreement to meet the basic needs of the Palestinians, noting that the total value of the spending will be 120 million euro, estimated at 142 million dollars.

The European Union has stressed it wishes to release 17.5 million euros to be withdrawn from the World Bank in order to help in paying wages in the interim government of the Palestinian Authority.

Part of the sum is 40 million euro for paying electricity bills, including due bills for the Israeli electricity, and 64 million euros given through UNRWA refugee agency.

Worthy mentioning that the subject of aid for the Palestinian Authority is one of the main subjects discussed by the foreign ministers of the European Union in their meeting in Brussels today Monday.
