Two-day Asia-Middle east dialogue begins Tuesday

The first meeting of the Working Group on Political and Security Issues of the Asia-Middle East Dialogue will be held for two days beginning next Tuesday.
The dialogue hosted by Malaysia and Saudi Arabia is aimed at enhancing cooperation between countries in both regions.
According to a Wisma Putra statement Monday, the discussions will focus on an overview of the political and security developments in Asia and the Middle East, strengthening cooperation against international terrorism and energy security.
Ninety-seven participants from governmental and non-governmental sectors are expected to attend the dialogue which will be opened by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar on the first day.
The participating Asian countries include Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyz, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tajikistan, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen are among the Middle East countries.
