Nasrullah defies the US
Lebanon-USA, Politics, 2/25/2006

The secretary general of the Lebanese Hizbullah party Hassan Nasrullah stressed national dialogue as the means to take Lebanon out of the political tensions it is facing, and for preparing the way to build the state and deal with the economic and social challenges.

In a speech on the occasion of the incidents in Iraq he had delivered in the southern district of Beirut, Nasrullah said that there is no room for the concept of the oppressed and the oppressor in Lebanon and that no side can impose its will on all Lebanese. He added that it is not logical that some will impose their ideas on the rest of the Lebanese by resorting to the street demonstrations, in possible reference to those seeking to have president Emil Lahoud resign.

The Hizbullah secretary considered that national unity is the only guarantee to withstand foreign pressures, in remarks to March 14 Forces group, and considered that the participation of the party in the national dialogue stems from the confidence that it is the only way to rescue Lebanon from its crisis.

Concerning the weapons of Hizbullah party, Nasrullah said that those who want to dismantle Hizbullah weapons do so in the service of Israel, in the first place. He ridiculed the US by saying that the USA has to come to the Mediterranean and Lebanon's coasts in order to dismantle the party's weapons.
