Al-Qaida organization which is led by Osama Bin Laden claimed responsibility for the attack targeting Abqiq oil installation in the east of the Saudi Arabia, that and resulted in killing two Saudi security men and the two attackers.
The organization claimed responsibility for the attack which took place on Friday in a statement on the Internet attributed to al-Qaida Organization In The Arab Peninsula which said that two of its members carried out the operation.
At the beginning, no one claimed responsibility for the attack which took place on Friday after the prayers and targeted Abqiq installations which are considered the center of oil industry in Saudi Arabia where more than 60% of oil production are refined.
However, eyes concentrated on al-Qaida and recalled the call made by its leader Osama Bin Laden in December 2004 to target oil installations in the Arab states in order to halt the flow of oil towards the west.
This is considered the first attack on a Saudi oil refinery. This was preceded by an attack in May 2004 against one American company in Yanbu's area where gunmen killed 6 Western workers and one Saudi before the security forces killed them.
