al-Sharq al-Awsat: Cargo transit to Iraq estimated 2.5 million tons

According to al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper, sources at the Federation of the Syrian Chambers of Commerce reported that 2.5 million tons of cargo was transited to Iraq from the rest of the world and through the Syria ports in 2005.
Syria functions as the main gateway for merchandise from all over the world to Iraq.
