Regional seminar on competition in the Euro-Mediterranean partnership

A four-day seminar under the title "competition in the Euro- Mediterranean partnership" is held on February 20 through 24 in Berlin with 40 participants from Euro- Mediterranean countries.
Salvador Font Salas, Coordinator, Euro-med Market program aid that the aim of the seminar which is taking place in the course of the Third phase of the Euro-Med Market program is to consolidate the knowledge acquired and the network created during the two previous phases (information training and networking) with the ultimate objective being the creation of a free trade area by the year 2010.
He added that the topic covered by the current seminar has been dealt with extensively during the 1st and 2nd phases, noting that this matter will be addressed in the present seminar by means of technical working groups/ experts panel rather than by general presentations, with a view to facilitating the review of the current situation in the Mediterranean partners, identifying their needs in the field of legislative adjustments and strengthening the networks of expertise in the Euro-Mediterranean area.
Moreover, the seminar aims to identify the developments and reforms that have been taking place in the Euro-Mediterranean area since the beginning of the Euro-Med market program. So this will be a forum to share the various national experiences, to analyze the difficulties that have emerged along the way and the solutions that have been found. All this with a view to learning from each other about the nature of those difficulties, problems and solutions.
