Bank of Jordan to open a Syrian branch

Bank of Jordan (BoJ) will set up a new branch in Syria no later than the beginning of next year after obtaining approval from the Central Bank of Syria.
BoJ's general assembly endorsed on Monday a recommendation to raise the bank's capital from JD70 million to JD86 million through the distribution of JD20 million in stock dividends.
In 2005, the bank posted JD23.2 million in net profit after tax deduction.
