Syria permits import of private cars

Syria's minister of economy and trade Amer Lutfi Hosni issued a decision that permits importing new private cars whose manufacture date did not exceed two years from the country of origin or the non-origin exclusively through Syrian ports, including Syrian and non Syrian free zones.
The decision No. 540, issued Monday, canceled the commission of the exclusive agent of 2%.
The imported cars will be valued by individuals and non-agent merchants according to prices fixed by Customs.
The decision also canceled the 3% rate added on the cars real value when imported from a country of non - origin.
