Iran's national interest not subject to Europeans and their supporter's gamesmanship
Iran-European Union, Politics, 2/21/2006
Deputy head of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) for international affairs, Javad Vaeidi said Sunday that the European have always called for halting Iran's enrichment process under the guise of 'guarantee' which is regarded as an historical blunder of the Europeans.
Meantime, Vaeidi added that the Iranian nation, intellectuals and public opinion have come to realize their intentions and believe that the issue shall not be interpreted as guarantee.
Vaeidi said "Iran avoids obstinacy and adventurism and does not intend to pursue confrontation, adding that at the same time it will not agree to suspend fuel production activities."
He stressed that Iran has not suspended its nuclear fuel production and will not surrender its rights to others.
"We have repeatedly announced that we do not welcome being reported to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), but unfortunately, the West believes that this is rooted in Iran's weakness.
"Expectation of the West for complete suspension of fuel cycle is a humiliation and national dependence" and Iran would not accept this.
It is noteworthy, that the UN, seen as a tool of the US and its supporters and the other major powers who fear opposing the US for their economic dependence on it, or have common interest in having Iran being dependent on them for critical nuclear fuel supply, was seen as impotent to even being able to interview prisoners held by the US, where the US rejected such requests from the UN to interview such prisoners. Iran said it seeks to build more than 8 nuclear reactors to meet internal energy needs in the future, with other reports putting the number at 20 nuclear reactors.
Iranians had noted how unreliable other countries are to Iran, with the US even preventing spare parts for civil airplanes to go to Iran, while others noted Russia's cut recent cutoff of gas supply to other countries that depend on this gas.
Iran had indicated it will not be made hostage to other countries' changing interests, and that it has full rights to enjoy the benefits of the nuclear non proliferation treaty, and other countries should be helping Iran develop its full nuclear fuel cycle production and independence and advance the nuclear civil technology and development, and not hinder these developments as some are trying to do.
