Kuwaiti parliament approves Nayef as crown prince
Kuwait, Politics, 2/21/2006
The Kuwaiti Umah council (parliament) unanimously on Monday approved appointing Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad, from al-Jaber family, as crown prince.
Moreover, the new Kuwaiti government took its constitutional oath before the council.
By this constitutional measure, Nawaf al-Ahmad becomes a crown prince. This comes as a response for the decision of his brother, the ruler of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah, who had appointed him several days ago as crown prince.
In another development, the new Kuwaiti government which is led by Sheikh Nasser al-Ahmad al-Sabah took the constitutional oath before the Kuwaiti parliament and vowed to continue the consolidation of political and economic reforms already started by the previous government.
The new Kuwaiti prime minister said in a speech he delivered before the parliament that his government adopts a work plan already adopted by the former government on the ground of the care to complete efforts and steps carried out by the earlier government.
Worthy mentioning that the current Kuwaiti government which was formed on February 9th will continue until the next elections in July 2007.
